Senior Citizen's Congress ( Public Speaking )

Occasion : Senior Citizen’s Congress
Good afternoon to all the people who have gathered here to attend the congress concerning to our senior citizens. First of all I would like to thank the organization for selecting me to be the speaker of this congress. It is an honor and privilege to be here.
We all know that the world is moving faster and faster every minute, every second and that everything is advancing in an accelerating rate, too fast that we tend to forget the people who made this possible thru their learning and experiences. Yes! What I’m referring about is our Grandparents, our lolas and lolos.
I would like to share to you an experience that changed my life. When I was still a college student in Ateneo de Manila, I dedicated my life on studying that I usually miss very special occasions like the golden wedding anniversary of my grandparents. I really didn’t respect my grandparents that much because for me they are already useless in our society. But one time when our class conducted a field trip to a place where they take care of old people who have been left by there families, that was the time when I realized how cruel and inconsiderate I was. I saw the emotional and physical sufferings that they were experiencing when there families left them even though they were the ones who sacrificed and strived hard, so that there families will prosper. That is when I promised to myself that I would do everything in my power to help senior citizens feel that there are still people who care and love them.
That’s why I decided to establish an organization called “Ang akong Lolo Buotan“. This organization ensures the protection of rights of senior citizens. We will assure that every senior citizen will get certain benefits such as retirement pay, health care, discount in other basic necessities. I did this in honor of all the senior citizens because I know that senior citizens are the ones who did all the work so that we will have a good life. So love your grandparents and thank them for everything.
THANK YOU!
